Your inbox, from the terminal.
The tare command reads, searches, files and drafts the same mail from a shell or a script. Add --json and hand it to Claude Code, Codex or any assistant that can run a command.
- Reading changes nothing. Not even the unread mark.
- Sending is off until you switch it on. An assistant reading mail from strangers can only leave you a draft.
- No way to your logins. It cannot read a password, change a setting or connect an account.

We never see your mail.
Tare is an app on your Mac, not a service in the middle. It talks straight to Google, Microsoft or your IMAP server, so your messages and your logins never pass through us. We could not read your mail if we wanted to.
Straight from your provider to your Mac.
Messages are fetched and stored on your machine. Not one of them is sent to our servers.
Kept in your Mac’s keychain.
Passwords and sign-in tokens stay on your device. We never receive them, so a breach of our servers cannot open your mailbox.
A model on your Mac, or your own subscription.
Summaries and drafts run on a local model, where nothing leaves your machine, or through your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription. Never through our servers.
Encrypted before it leaves.
Sync carries your settings, never your mail, encrypted with a key only your devices hold. We store what we cannot read.

Your Tare account: its email address, your plan, your team and the devices signed in. Read statuses are off until you turn them on; then we record when a message you sent was opened, never who it was to or what it said. Privacy policy
